Join moderator\u00a0Joseph Mauceri\u00a0(FEARSmag), along with renowned critics and journalistsMaitland McDonagh\u00a0(former TV Guide&#8217;s Senior Movies Editor),\u00a0Edwin Pag\u00e1n\u00a0(Founder-In-Chief of LATIN HORROR), and\u00a0Mike Sargent\u00a0(radio personality and film critic) as they discuss Hollywood&#8217;s cinematic obsession with the end of the world as we know it.<!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>From the 1936 film &#8216;Things to Come&#8217; and continuing into 2013 with films like &#8216;The Dresden Codex,&#8217; the history of the cinema contains a vast variety of imaginings as to the demise of humanity and the ultimate destruction of our planet. The evenings discussion will include numerous film clips, trailers, and artwork showcasing a variety of such films that have ignited audiences&#8217; imaginations. The panel will be discussing their favorite films as they fall into four categories &#8211;\u00a0\u00a0Environmental (terrestrial), Man Made (This would include zombies as a result of a virus etc.), Extra Terrestrial (threats from outer space), and Spiritual\/Supernatural. The panel will not limit the discussion to simply the Mayan Myth, but look at films that explore the Eschatological themes of Armageddon, Apocalypse,End Time, Doomsday, and the basic End of the World as we know it! With such a timely topic for discussion the panel is expecting some interesting audience participation that evening.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Biographies of Panelists:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Joseph B. Mauceri<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Radio personality, author, editor, critic, journalist, Screenwriter, web designer, and transmedia producer is always on the cutting edge of genre pop culture. A native New Yorker, Mauceri\u2019s career began in the mid 80&#8217;s at WBAI (99.5 FM), producing segments for the station&#8217;s daily arts program. Mauceri worked as unit publicist on several independent films and with 20 years as an internationally recognized film journalist and critic, Mauceri is the COO &amp; Executive Editor of FEARSmag.com, founded in 1998. Mauceri is currently the Executive chairman of Artists InGOREporated, a nonprofit organization that seeks to unit the various artist disciplines and their love of science fiction, fantasy, and horror; and oversees Cinema S\u00e9ance and the New Fear City Film Festival. Mauceri is\u00a0 working on several publishing projects,\u00a0 screenplays with partners Mark Bishop (co-screenwriter of &#8220;Tales from the Crypt Presents Demon Knight&#8221;), Craig Singer, Susan Maguire of Powerhouse Entertainment, and is bring his unique background and\u00a0 experience to the website Film Festival Traveler, founded by Bradley Balfour.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Maitland McDonagh<\/strong>\u00a0is a critic, lecturer and TV commentator, author of Movie Lust, Filmmaking on the Fringe, The 50 Most Erotic Films of All Time and Broken Mirrors\/Broken Minds: The Dark Dreams of Dario Argento. Formerly TV Guide&#8217;s Senior Movies Editor, she writes for Time Out New York, Film Comment and other magazines, and has been interviewed for many film-related documentaries. She reviews new movie and DVD releases at missflickchick.com, and blogs about movie-related news, views and issues at\u00a0 Your Daily Maitland (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.missflickchick.com\/external.html\">www.missflickchick.com\/external.html<\/a>).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Edwin Pag\u00e1n<\/strong>\u00a0is the Founder-In-Chief of LATIN HORROR. He is a New York-based filmmaker and media professional (photographer, cinematographer, writer, branding\/publicity consultant) with over 25-years production experience in the documentary and narrative film sectors. Pag\u00e1n is currently penning a book chronicling the history and contributions of Latinos working in the genre of horror entitled &#8220;MIEDO: The History of Latin Horror.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Mike Sargent<\/strong>\u00a0is chief Film Critic for WBAI RADIO\u2019s daytime film review program, &#8216;Reelworld&#8217;, and host of WBAI\u2019s popular late night radio show, &#8216;Niteshift&#8217;, a free form magazine format covering pop culture themes driven by the shows philosophy that &#8220;life is like science fiction.&#8221; Sargent is also an established writer and director, his debut feature film, &#8216;Personals&#8217; (aka Hook&#8217;d Up) starred Malik Yoba (&#8216;NY Undercover&#8217;) and Stacey Dash (&#8216;Clueless&#8217;). &#8216;Personals&#8217; was the opening night selection at the Los Angeles\u2019 Pan African Film Festival in 1999. As an Illustrator, Sargent has produced storyboards for a number of films as diverse as the horror film &#8216;Brain Damage&#8217; by Frank Henenlotter and the thrillers &#8216;Illegal Tender&#8217; &amp; &#8216;The Ministers&#8217; by Franc Reyes. Sargent is currently shooting &#8216;Bad Boys: A Documentary,&#8217; an in-depth, investigative film that examines why women and society in general are in love with Bad boys thought history.
